art on a wall, south great georges st, dublin.

i have memories of seeing pieces of art on walls like this around parts of dublin city since i was a small - this one is the last remaining with any features that can be made out - the rest seem to be torn down. i'm guessing they date from the 1980's but i have no idea when exactly they were put up, or if there was a reason at all, side from artistic statement.
